A stronger product identity starts with better records
Connect the product to a responsible organisation
An accountable product record starts with a clearly identified business and a person authorised to represent it. Brand ownership, manufacturing, import and distribution roles should be described accurately.
Being a distributor does not give an organisation the right to issue codes or edit another business’s product identity.
Keep the information structured
Prepare consistent information at the right level. The product, its variants, production batches and individual units are related records, not interchangeable terms.
- Organisation identity and representative authority.
- Product name, brand, category, variant and pack size.
- Relevant batch information and the meaning of each date.
- Approved product images and supporting documents.
- Sources, document validity dates and a responsible contact.
Make review and correction possible
Supporting evidence should identify its source and scope. A document about one batch should not silently become evidence for every product a business makes.
PIVERS keeps review history, requires approval for material changes and helps businesses respond to concerns without hiding the underlying record.
